As a selected Southwest Education Advocate, participants are asked to commit to meeting on all nine dates listed below. We have included the topics that will be covered:

October 12, 2023 – 5:45 pm – 7:45 pm

• Meet and greet:  Advocate Introductions; Meet the School Board President; School Finance 101

November 9, 2023 – 5:45 pm – 7:45 pm

• Welcome SACS’ Teacher of the Year; Introduction to Human Resources and Communications Department

December 7, 2023 – 5:45 pm – 7:45 pm

• Meet with local and state representatives

January 11, 2024 – 9 am – 11 am

• Learn legislative priorites for SACS; District growth outlook; Building and facility needs

February 8,  2024 – 9 am – 11 am

• Tour Transportation, SETS, and Maintenance; Look at school safety

March 14,  2024 – 9 am – 1 pm

• Tour Homestead High School, Woodside Middle School and Covington Elementary; Lunch at School

April 11,  2024 – 5:45 pm – 7:45 pm

• Look at Curriculum at SACS; Learn about alternative schools and eSACS Virtual School

May 9,  2024 – 5:45 pm – 7:45 pm

• Learn about Special Education;  ELL; Guidance Programming

May 21,  2024 – 7 pm

• Graduation – Southwest Education Advocates Class of 2024 recognized at school board meeting
