Wireless Devices
Wireless Devices Update
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Indiana Senate Bill 78 establishes statewide expectations regarding student use of wireless communication devices in schools. The legislation requires school districts to adopt and implement policies that limit distractions caused by personal electronic devices while supporting focused, engaging learning environments.
Southwest Allen County Schools has long recognized the importance of minimizing distractions during the school day and has maintained expectations that limit student cell phone use during instructional time. The information below outlines SACS’ continued approach to supporting focused learning environments while ensuring compliance with state requirements.
Below is a summary of expectations by grade level. Families are encouraged to review their child’s school handbook and the Board of School Trustees’ policy for complete details.
