Southwest Allen County Schools offers a variety of athletic and enrichment camps throughout the year. The following camps are available for SUMMER 2026:

Expedition has been a Southwest Allen County program for many years and blends physical education and environmental science into an exciting experience for students who just completed 4th, 5th or 6th grade. Activities will include hiking, cycling, canoeing, and swimming as well as a 'Bat Night' at Fox Island.
Students will need a geared bicycle that is in good working condition, a helmet and an attached water bottle.
The class is limited to 28 students. We look forward to meeting our next group of students.

Classes
LEVEL 1 – Introduction to Water Skills AGES 5 -7
The objective of LEVEL 1 is to help students feel comfortable in the water. Students will learn to experience buoyancy, bubble blowing, enter and exit water independently, supported float on front and back, move through the water comfortably, supported kicking on front and back and introduction to alternating arm action.
LEVEL 2 – Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills AGES 6 -9
Prerequisites: 6-9 years old and must be able to swim unassisted. The objective of LEVEL 2 is to give students success with fundamental skills. Students will learn to hold breath and fully submerge head, retrieve object under water, orientation to deep water, front and back float and glide, rhythmic breathing, flutter kick on front and back, and combined stroke on front and back.
LEVEL 3 – Stroke Development AGES 7 – 12
Prerequisites: 7-12 years old and must be able to demonstrate the skills described in LEVEL 2. The objective of LEVEL 3 is to build on the skills of Level 2 by providing additional guided practice. Students will refine rhythmic breathing, coordinate arm stroke for front crawl with breathing to the side, coordinate back crawl, elementary back stroke.
Intro to Swim Team
Prerequisite: must be able to demonstrate the skill described in Level Three. Students will continue to work on freestyle and back stroke in addition to learning breast stroke and butterfly. Other skills include flip turns. open turns possibly free and back racing starts, how to use the time clock, race finishes, strategy, sample practice.
