Please consider helping us help Kate’s Kart

Donating books to Kate's Kart is a meaningful way to support hospitalized children during challenging times. Kate's Kart is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing free, new books to children in hospitals, bringing comfort, joy, and a sense of normalcy to their hospital stay. By contributing books, donors help to nurture young imaginations, offer a welcome distraction from medical treatments, and create moments of happiness. Each book donated becomes a gift of hope and encouragement, making a positive impact on the lives of both the children and their families.

Guests at READ Under the Lights are encouraged to bring NEW soft cloth books, board books, and/or picture books to donate to Kate’s Kart. We encourage “fun” books with popular characters that the children love and adore.

Literacy Alliance

Literacy Changes Lives - Our mission is to empower people and strengthen community through education.

The Literacy Alliance has provided a start-up family library to every new home built through Habitat for Humanity at the time of home dedication. Access to quality home books encourages families, parents, and children to be readers. Parents serve as role models in developing the habit of reading at home with their children and also help foster a love of reading and learning in their children that reinforces learning at school.

Each library consists of a new bookcase, new reference books, and a selection of gently-used pleasure reading selected to match the ages and interests of family members.

  • New and Used bookds for all ages, but preferred for ages 5-12
  • Works with building home libraries for Habitat for Humanity
