Adult Swim Lessons

BEGINNING SWIMMING:
6:00-6:45pm
This class is for teenagers and adults who are beginner swimmers, including those who are fearful of the water and/or those who wish to learn basic water skill. This course will teach basic water skills including: water adjustment, front and back float, breath control, kicking, and beginning stroking.

STROKE REFINEMENT: 6:45-7:30pm
This class is for teenagers and adults who have mastered basic water skills and wish to learn additional strokes and improve technique. Increasing your endurance will also be taught. Some strokes introduced and improved upon include: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Class

Interested in having the skill to save a life? Or do you want to earn money working at the Southwest Allen Natatorium or other area pools? This course certifies you in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and the AED which are all essential for a position as a lifeguard.

DATES:  September 10 - October 8th
 
(Participant MUST Attend All Classes - no make-up dates)
Sunday, September 10 at 6:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 17 at 6:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 24 at 11 a.m - 4:45 p.m.
Sunday, October 1, at 6:45 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Sunday, October 8, at 6:45 - 1:45 p.m.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, September 6 by 3:15 p.m.
FEE: $210
PREREQUISITES: *At least 15 years of age

*1) Swim 300 yds. continuously using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed.
 
*2) Tread water for 2 minutes without support & without stopping. When treading, only the legs can be used. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits. The head must remain above the surface of the water.
 
*3)*Starting in the water swim 20 yds. using front crawl or breaststroke. The face may be in or out of the water. Surface dive feet first or head first to a depth of 7-10 ft. to retrieve a 10 lb brick. Return to the surface and swim 20 yds. back to the starting point with both hands holding the brick and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to breath. The candidates cannot swim the distance under water. Exit the pool in 1 minute and 40 seconds. Swim goggles are not allowed for this even.

Wed., Sept. 6th by 3:15 p.m.**
 

American Red Cross Lifeguard Re-certification Class

DATE: May 17 & May 21, 2017
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, May 12, 2017 before 8am
FEE: $155
This Re-certification class will renew a lifeguard in his/her Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications for 2 years.

Prerequisites: You MUST currently be certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard.
