Where is my student?

Our buses at SACS are equipped with GPS, so we can get realtime positioning so that we can figure out the exact second that a bus will arrive at its next stop. Parents can also pull this information for their students, with

Here Comes the Bus

The Southwest Allen County School Corporation
owns and operates its own fleet of school buses. Bus capacities range from 10 passengers to 84 passengers.

Employment Opportunities
SACS is accepting applications for bus drivers. We offer a complete training program. Drivers who have achieved a Commercial Drivers License and meet all requirements start driving duties as substitute drivers with the opportunity to obtain a Sub-Contracted driving position.

Resource Information

The brochure Kids the School Bus and You from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides parents, children, and motorists helpful lifesaving tips to make traveling to and from the school bus stop and in school buses safer for everyone.

Safety Message from SACS

  1. Never cross close to the front of the bus - make sure the driver can see you.
  2. Never pick up anything you drop close to or under the bus - ask the driver what to do.
  3. Never run after a bus or bang on the side.
  4. If you must cross the street in front of the bus, follow the driver's directions, and stop and look before you cross.
  5. Never run across a street; it's better to miss the bus than rush and risk being hit by a car.
  6. Stay away from the rear and sides of the bus; always be in a safe place where the driver can see you.

Motoring Public

  1. Never pass a school bus when its stop lights are flashing.
  2. Be extra vigilant around school hours - assume a child might run out at any moment.
  3. Be courteous to school buses, give them room and let them change lanes when they need to.

Students must be at their assigned stop location five (5) minutes before the scheduled pickup time. Stop locations may change periodically based on the student population and demographics and physical conditions of the area served. Students must ride on their assigned bus, to their assigned stop. Students are not allowed to ride to (or from) another student's home/ bus stop. Exceptions will only be made by the Director of Transportation. All requests must be made in writing ten (10) days prior to the start of alternative transportation. Emergencies will be considered and approved by the Director of Transportation.
